Home Schooling

Personalised
Home Schooling

If your child is capable and curious but isn’t flourishing in a traditional classroom, Ascend offers another way,  without asking you to become their full-time teacher or asking them to give up friendships and social connection.

Ascend combines qualified teachers, 1:1 learning, small-group social activities, real-world education, allied health, tutoring and wellbeing support in one flexible learning environment.

Children can attend our Revesby or Alexandria Learning Centres from 10am–2pm, Monday to Friday, choose selected days, learn online or combine Ascend with learning at home.

What We Offer

We also offer school-style pick-up and drop-off transport to make the model practical for busy families.

Ascend is particularly suited to bright and capable children with ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism and other neurodivergent learning profiles who may simply need to learn differently.

We don’t ask the child to fit the system.
We build the learning around the child.

Individual learning. Real friendships

One of the biggest concerns parents have about home education is socialisation.

We understand. Children need more than academics. They need friendships, laughter, teamwork, conversation and a sense of belonging.

That’s why Ascend deliberately combines 1:1 learning with small-group experiences. Children may spend part of their day working individually with a teacher or tutor before coming together for science experiments, art, cooking, sport, projects, excursions, outdoor activities, games and social time.

They receive the individual attention that can be difficult to achieve in a large classroom without learning alone.

Learn individually. Grow together.

1:1 learning that moves at
your child’s pace

In a classroom of 20 or 30 children, a teacher eventually has to move on.
At Ascend, if your child hasn’t understood something, we don’t simply move on.

We find the gap

We explain it differently

We break it into smaller steps

We demonstrate it

And whenever possible, we let them experience it

If they need more time, they get it

If they’re ready to move ahead, we don’t hold them back

The goal isn’t to finish the worksheet.
The goal is for your child to understand it.

Learn it. See it. Experience it. Live it.

Some children don’t learn best from a textbook.
They need to see it, touch it and understand how it connects to real life.

If we’re learning about motors, we might visit a local mechanic. Instead of only looking at a diagram, children can see an engine, touch its components, ask questions and discover how it actually works.

Then we connect those experiences back to literacy, mathematics, science, technology and the child’s curriculum.

When learning becomes real, it becomes meaningful.

The world is our
classroom

We don’t believe childhood should be spent sitting inside four walls. Whenever possible, we take learning outside.

Parks, beaches, museums, galleries, nature, community spaces and local businesses can all become classrooms.

We want children moving, exploring, asking questions and connecting with the world around them. Outdoor learning isn’t simply an occasional excursion at Ascend.

It’s part of how we learn.

We educate the
whole child

Academic progress matters. But so do confidence, emotional regulation, independence, resilience, curiosity and wellbeing.

Ascend incorporates age-appropriate meditation, mindfulness, grounding, breathing and relaxation techniques into our approach.

Children learn to recognise when they’re becoming overwhelmed, take a break, regulate themselves and return to learning.

Sometimes stepping outside, moving your body and resetting is exactly what a child needs.
We want children to feel safe, understood and confident enough to learn.

Education + allied health, connected

Parents often find themselves travelling between school, tutoring, occupational therapy, speech therapy, psychology and other appointments — with everyone working separately. Ascend takes a more connected approach.

Depending on individual needs and availability, support may include:

Occupational therapy

Speech pathology

Psychology

Behaviour support

Specialist literacy support

Learning assessments

Individual tutoring

Social and emotional development

With parent consent, educators and allied health professionals can collaborate.
Strategies developed in therapy can be reinforced during learning, and learning difficulties identified by teachers can inform additional support.

One child. One connected team.

Flexible enough for real family life

We know many parents would consider home education if they had the time to actually do it.
Ascend is designed to make a flexible education pathway more practical.

Children can attend our Revesby or Alexandria centres from 10am–2pm Monday to Friday, attend selected days, learn online or combine centre-based and home learning.

Families can choose a pattern that works for their child and their family. And with our school-style pick-up and drop-off bus service, parents don’t necessarily need to spend their day driving between learning, tutoring and other activities.

Move More. Learn Better.

Children weren’t designed to sit at a desk all day.
At Ascend, movement, exercise and sport are part of the learning experience. Children regularly get outside and participate in activities such as team sports, swimming, fitness, games and outdoor adventures.

Sport builds more than physical fitness. It develops teamwork, resilience, confidence, communication and persistence, while giving children an important opportunity to reset and refocus.

Every child is different, so our goal isn’t to create athletes, it’s to help children discover movement they enjoy.

Healthy bodies support healthy minds.

Maybe your child doesn’t need to try harder. Maybe they need to learn differently.

There are bright, curious and capable children sitting in classrooms every day believing they’re not good at learning.

We want to change that. Ascend gives children individual attention without isolation, structure without rigidity, support without judgement and education that extends far beyond four walls.
For parents, it offers a way to consider home education without feeling like you have to do it all yourself.

For children, it offers somewhere they can learn differently, keep connecting with other children and rediscover what they’re capable of.
Learn it. See it. Experience it. Live it.

Ascend Education Core Values

1. Learn Differently

There is no single right way to learn. We adapt the teaching, pace and environment to the child — not the child to the system.

4. Nurture the Whole Child

We care about more than academics. onfidence, emotional wellbeing, independence, mindfulness, movement, friendships and resilience are all part of a child’s education.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ascend is designed for bright and capable children who aren’t flourishing in a traditional school environment. They may have ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism or another neurodivergent learning profile. They might struggle to concentrate in a large classroom, learn differently from their peers, need more 1:1 support or simply thrive when education is practical and connected to their interests. Some children may be academically behind. Others may be ahead. Some may be both — advanced in one area and struggling significantly in another. We meet the child where they are.

No. While we specialise in supporting neurodivergent learners, a formal diagnosis isn’t necessarily required. What matters is understanding your child’s learning profile and determining whether Ascend is an appropriate environment for them.

No. Ascend is not a behavioural intervention school or specialist behaviour setting. We are creating a calm, safe and positive learning community. Children need to be able to communicate appropriately, participate safely in individual and group activities and demonstrate a willingness to engage with learning. Being behind academically, having ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia or autism does not exclude a child. We’re looking for children with potential who may simply be in the wrong environment for their beautiful minds to flourish.

We get to know them. As part of the enrolment process, we consider your child’s educational history, strengths, learning needs, communication and previous school experience. We may request recent school reports and relevant professional reports and arrange a meeting or introductory session. We’re not looking for perfect grades. We’re interested in whether your child tries, wants to learn, can participate positively with others and is likely to benefit from the Ascend environment.

Yes. Our model has been developed with a strong understanding of neurodivergent learning. Rather than seeing difference as a deficit, we look at how each child’s brain learns best and adapt the environment accordingly.

Our educators are qualified teachers with professional teaching experience, including experience teaching and supporting neurodivergent children. We choose educators who can adapt. Instead of asking: “Why can’t this child learn?” we ask: “How does this child learn?”

Your child remains registered for home schooling by their parent or legal guardian. Ascend then provides a flexible environment where children can access teaching, tutoring, social activities, experiential learning and additional support. Children can attend selected days or potentially attend throughout the week depending on their individual program.

This is one of the main reasons Ascend exists. We know there are parents who can see that traditional schooling isn’t working for their child but don’t have the capacity to become a full-time home educator. Ascend provides structured learning, qualified educators, 1:1 support and centre-based learning options to make the home-education pathway more manageable. Parents still retain the legal responsibilities associated with home schooling, but they don’t have to navigate every aspect of their child’s learning journey alone.

Social connection is a core part of Ascend. Children learn individually and then come together. Small-group activities, projects, outdoor experiences, excursions, sport, cooking, art, games and social time give children regular opportunities to make friends and develop communication and teamwork skills. We want children to experience the benefits of personalised learning without social isolation.

Because concentration and learning are connected to wellbeing. Age-appropriate mindfulness, breathing, grounding and relaxation activities help children develop strategies for recognising overwhelm, regulating themselves and returning to learning.

Yes. Online learning provides another layer of flexibility. Depending on the child’s program, this may include 1:1 sessions, tutoring, educator support and guided curriculum work from home or while away.

Yes. Ascend offers a school-style pick-up and drop-off bus service for participating children attending our Revesby and Alexandria centres. Routes and availability will depend on location and enrolments.

Absolutely. We believe sport, creativity, hobbies, community activities and friendships all contribute to a child’s development. The flexibility of home education can also give families greater freedom to incorporate these experiences into the child’s week.

Absolutely. We encourage families to visit Ascend, meet us and talk about their child’s strengths, challenges and current school experience. It’s important that Ascend feels right for both your child and your family.

Ascend uses Euka as a structured home-education curriculum resource. It gives families a clear academic foundation rather than expecting parents to develop an entire program from scratch. Ascend then brings that curriculum to life through 1:1 teaching, tutoring, practical projects, outdoor learning, community experiences and additional support. Think of Euka as the academic framework, with Ascend creating the individual learning experience around it.

Euka offers services and documentation designed to assist families with the home-schooling registration process, including curriculum planning documentation. The parent or legal guardian still makes and maintains the relevant home-schooling registration and remains responsible for meeting applicable NSW requirements. Ascend can help families understand where to begin.

No. Ascend is not a traditional registered school. Children using this model remain registered for home schooling by their parent or legal guardian. Ascend provides education and support around the child’s home-education program.

No. Families can choose an attendance pattern that suits their child. Some children may attend more regularly, while others might attend two or three days and learn from home or online on other days.

No two children — or days — need to look exactly the same. A day might include: 1:1 teaching • curriculum work • tutoring • small-group learning • outdoor activities • allied health • mindfulness • creative projects • practical life skills • excursions • social time And some days, the most valuable lesson may happen outside the centre entirely.

It means teaching can be adapted to your child rather than expecting your child to keep pace with an entire classroom. We can slow down, go back, explain something differently or move ahead when they’re ready.

That’s okay. Being behind doesn’t mean being incapable. We identify gaps and work from your child’s actual learning level rather than simply their age or year group. At the same time, we continue developing their strengths so their entire education doesn’t become focused on what they find difficult.

We can extend their learning too. Personalised education means children shouldn’t have to continually repeat concepts they’ve already mastered simply because the rest of a class isn’t ready to move forward.

Depending on individual needs and availability, families may have access to services including: Occupational therapy • Speech pathology • Psychology • Behaviour support • Learning assessments • Specialist literacy support • Individual tutoring • Social and emotional development Where appropriate and with consent, professionals can collaborate with the child’s educators.

As much meaningful time as we can incorporate into their learning. Lessons and experiences can happen in parks, beaches, museums, galleries, community spaces and local businesses. The world is our classroom.

Learning can travel too. Children may continue selected Ascend sessions online, work through their Euka program and complete learning with their parent while travelling. We also encourage families to use travel itself as education. Museums become history. Foreign currency becomes maths. Different countries introduce geography, language and culture. Maps and itineraries teach planning and practical skills. Historical sites bring lessons to life. The world is our classroom — wherever in the world you happen to be. Parents remain responsible for ensuring their home-education arrangements continue to meet applicable requirements.

Potentially, yes. Each child is considered individually to ensure Ascend is appropriate for their learning and support needs. What ages does Ascend accept? Ascend supports school-aged children, with suitability considered individually based on the child’s age, learning needs and the programs available at each centre.

This matters enormously to us. When a capable child repeatedly feels like they’re failing, education can become something they fear rather than enjoy. Ascend aims to rebuild that relationship with learning by giving children achievable challenges, recognising their strengths and helping them experience success. Sometimes the first thing we need to change isn’t the child.

Yes. We believe active bodies support active minds. Movement, exercise and sport are a regular part of the Ascend experience, with opportunities for activities such as team sports, swimming, fitness, games and outdoor adventures. Sport helps children develop confidence, teamwork, resilience and healthy habits, while giving them a chance to reset and refocus between learning. Children don’t need to be naturally athletic our goal is to help every child find movement they enjoy.
